Coldfront opens poker site
Thursday, 30 March 2006

Coldfront's poker site is dedicated to promoting home poker games.

We have two main sections for use. Home Games is for players to search for poker games in their local area. Games posted here are meant for fun and entertainment purposes.

The Leagues section is designed for poker clubs that want to take their Internet or local game to another competitive level. Our leagues track point totals throughout the year and allow leagues to have a yearly winner after all the games are played.

Please feel free to browse the site, and become part of our growing community.

Ship Creation FAQ Updated
Written by Robert "Xaphod" Goforth
Thursday, 30 March 2006

One of the things that sets Pirates of the Burning Sea apart from other MMO games is the amount of user participation that the developers are actively encouraging, particularly in that of user content.

Custom sails and flags can be submitted for peer-approval, and many of those have been accepted by the developers. There are a few tutorials here you might want to have a look at if that interests you.

An aspect of user content that is much more challenging and groundbreaking though is that of user created ships.

Flying Lab have recently updated their Ship Creation FAQ to include more advanced and detailed information, and the toolkit they provide has had an extra ship and a scale avatar model added to it as well.

Look out for our extensive ship creation tutorial soon, so keep your eyes peeled, budding shipwrights.

Isildur's Answer
Written by Robert "Xaphod" Goforth
Wednesday, 29 March 2006

Society of Gamers' Pirates of the Burning Sea section hosted a recent competition asking readers to submit questions, the winner of which would recieve a PotBS t-shirt and get their question answered in full by a member of Flying Lab Software.

The winner this week was Jhadmae, who asked "How is Pirates of the Burning Sea going to provide content for the different kinds of player - the PvP'er, the PvE'er, the Crafter, the Socializer, the Casual player, and the Hardcore player?"

Isildur's answer to this question explores how the decisions the developers have made help to ensure that Pirates of the Burning Sea will appeal to all sorts of different gamers. As the start of a new era of news editorials, I'm going to read between the lines and explore his answer in full.

Tuesday, 28 March 2006

We are very excited to have some exclusive wallpapers fresh from the FLS art department to share with you.

We were given wallpapers with the theme of the British, one of the four playable nations in Pirates of the Burning Sea.

You can download these very cool wallpapers here. Enjoy!

Modified - now the sail shows an historically appropriate Union Flag.

As many of you noticed, we weren't able to get through as many questions as we would have liked at our last devchat.

But don't fret! We sent our list of unanswered questions to Flyinglab, and our new hero game designer Kevin "Isildur" Maginn has ploughed through them and given his answers! We thank you sir, oh yes we do.
