In a joint venture with other Pirates of the Burning Sea fansites, Coldfront.net is hosting an IRC channel dedicated to Pirates of the Burning Sea on their IRC network.
The channel can be accessed by connecting to one of the following servers using an IRC client:
* irc1.coldfront.net ports 21, 23, 80, 6667, and SSL on 7778 - US East Coast
* irc2.coldfront.net ports 6667 and SSL on 7778 - US East Coast
* ice.coldfront.net ports 6667 and SSL on 7778 - Europe (Netherlands)
* subzero.coldfront.net ports 6667 and SSL on 7778 - US East Coast
and then by joining the channel #burningsea.
If you have an IRC client installed already, you can just click this link to be taken straight to the IRC room.
The channel can also be accessed by using the web based IRC client on http://potbs.coldfront.net, which was formed as a way for fans of Pirates of the Burning Sea to gather and chat about the game in a central place.
The Coldfront Network is a growing fansite network and IRC/web community, with a strong interest in Massively Multiplayer Online Games.
IRC (Internet Relay Chat) potentially allows thousands of users to chat together by connecting to a central network of servers in channels that are both highly configurable and easy to use.
For more detailed information about Coldfront's IRC network and IRC in general, visit http://www.coldfront.net/index/content/section/2/29/. |

Yesterday at 8pm PST, John Tynes (a.k.a. Rev) did a radio interview for KUOW radio, sharing his recommendations for video games to buy and to avoid this holiday season. Unfortunately I missed it, but if anyone managed to listen in and record the interview, drop me an email at

Flying Labs Software yesterday revealed that they've hired an "Envoy" for the community (a Community Manager, per se) by the name of Troy Hewitt, but we can call him Aether.
Basically, his job is to pester the devs for us, make sure they keep releasing devlogs, screenshots and making sure we still know they exist every once in a while - hopefully this means we'll be having less slow news weeks, as I'm pretty sure every single one of us is looking forward to the start of beta. In the news post he goes on to say how phenomenal the connection between the devs and the community already is and asks questions that he hopes you answer on the forums.
Aether was born and bred in Seattle, and his last position was with Monolith Online, working on The Matrix Online.

You may or may not have noticed the new little "Child's Play" ad up in the top right, now it's time for me to tell you a little something about the charity.
Penny Arcade (One of my personal favourite webcomics) started a charity a few years ago called Child's Play, designed to donate money to children's hospitals in the US and Canada, but this year expanded to children's hospitals worldwide. They are currently helping 16 hospitals (13 in the US, 2 in Canada, 1 in the UK) and are completely non-profit. They take none of the money donated for themselves, it all goes to the hospitals. In the past 3 years, nearly a million dollars have been raised for hospitals.
The Coldfront team decided that we'd try to help them out, so if you can, please, donate to them. Every penny counts.
